Luckily my second finger has healed enough for playing as before. The side is still quite numb and that is going to stay that way, but it is not more than a nuisance.
The finger is in the healing process, the nerve needs to regrow, that will hopefully have happened by January, 2009. Nerves regrow half a mm / day.
Am not allowed to use the finger yet, only little movement with the top part.

I had a serious accident, yet was very lucky, meaning I will lickely play again within a while.
I got pulled into a table saw when doing some work around the house. Cut half way trough the base of my left hand second finger. Emergency room and several hours of surgery under a microscope followed (fully under), mainly to put nerves and bloodvessels back together, the nurses and surgeon were really great and honestly concerned, of course I told I am a concert pianist, they did immideately get a hand specialist. I am very grateful that I can move the finger, it is not yet sure how the nerves are doing, I was really ver lucky (table saws can rip 6 inch beams of wood in a second). This was Saturday afternoon. I have great painmedication but will have to supposedly go trough some painful rehab.
I of course will not be performing for a while, but am very hopful to start trying the piano within a month. Still hope to be able to play the concerts scheduled for Spring semester, have to see how the finger heals. Am hoping to also do some tryout concerts when I and the doctor feel that it can be done, given of course that this heals as I really hope it does.
Exciting news! I will be performing a solo concert at Carnegie Weill on May 11, 2008. This is part of the winner series of the "Artist International Competition".
